A Newborn Care Specialist, or NCS, is a professional caregiver with an extensive background in the care of newborns. We are often improperly referred to as “Baby Nurses.” We are not nurses, however. We are trained specifically in the non-medical care of newborns.
Professional Newborn Care Specialists hold certifications in newborn and postpartum care, and are trained in areas such as umbilical cord care, circumcision care, safe sleep practices, lactation support, milk storage and formula feeding.
Newborn Care Specialists work to support new and growing families by providing informational and hands on support so that parents can rest assured knowing that all of babies needs are met while the family recovers and regains equilibrium following birth. A qualified Newborn Care Specialist will be self led and able to manage all of babies needs without need of parental supervision, but, will also have a strong sense of awareness for when to step back so that families can have bonding time with their new arrival.

As both a Postpartum Doula and a Newborn Care Specialist, I bring a wide scope of knowledge not only in supporting baby, but also in supporting Mothers while they move through the various stages of birthing and motherhood. I am passionate about supporting safety in birthing and postpartum environments through the Midwifery Model of Care, and acting as an advocate to make sure that Mother and Babies needs are central throughout the birthing and postpartum journey.
Welcoming a new life into the world is the deepest form of internal revolution that most will ever experience, and I pride myself on showing up to support the physical, emotional and spiritual journey of Motherhood. I facilitate a strong Mother and Baby bond, while also taking the weight off from parents shoulders - so that their time with baby can truly be enjoyed.
I am a Doula, and I understand that title to hold within it a responsibility to provide integrative care for families and communities. We are all giving birth to something in our lives, wether that be a child, a work of art, or a way of being - all of creation needs care, and that is what I do in my work as a Doula and, a Newborn Care Specialist.
